Some recent stories and books I liked.   If you like them too,  please amplify the signal and leave a review or rating. I’ve linked to the author’s sites in case you want to lavish them with praise (you probably should). You can see what else I’m reading on my Goodreads page.

Daily Science Fiction

The Fox Bride by Mari Ness.  I have to write a fox story.

A Domestic Lepidopterist by Natalia Theodoridou. I love the repurposing of a specialty, like Bradbury’s firemen.

Four Movie Reviews from after the Zombie Apocalypse by Michael Haynes. I would absolutely see all these movies.

The Sky Didn’t Load Today by Rich Larson. Creepy ending.

Fantasy & Science Fiction

Bilingual by Henry Lien. A wonderful rescue story that made me want to leap into it and help. The story’s not online, but you can read an interview with the author about it here.

The Long Haul, From the ANNALS OF TRANSPORTATION, The Pacific Monthly, May 2009 by Ken Liu. Just give it all the awards now, please. And if you haven’t read John McPhee’s Common Carriers (or everything else by John McPhee, such as The Deltoid Pumpkin Seed, which is also about airships), hurry.

The Three-Body Problem by Cixin Liu, translated by Ken Liu. Everything you’ve heard about it is correct.

The Hollow World by Michael Sullivan. A wonderful tale of a man who throws himself out of time and finds himself in a timeless world you’ll enjoy exploring alongside him. I’m currently reading Asimov’s A Pebble in the Sky, and Hollow World is more realized and more interesting.
